3 Ways to Use WhatsApp Without a SIM Card

Fortunately, there are at least two ways to use WhatsApp without a SIM card. Both of these methods require you to download WhatsApp on your device, via the Google Play Store or directly from the app's official website.

1. How to Use WhatsApp Without a SIM Card

You can use WhatsApp without a SIM card if you have another working smartphone. It can be any device that supports texting or calling.

  1. Download and open WhatsApp on your phone without a SIM card. 
  2. Read the privacy policy and terms of use offered by the home screen. 
  3. Press Accept and continue. 
  4. Enter the other device's phone number. Tap Next. 
  5. Make sure your number is correct and hit OK. 
  6. The application will send an SMS to the active device. 
  7. Get the code and enter it into your phone without a SIM card.

2. Use WhatsApp without a SIM card via a landline number

This method is also simple, but you will need a landline number or some sort of landline number. We know it's become less used these days, but here's one way to do it.

  1. Download and open WhatsApp. 
  2. Read the privacy policy and terms of use offered by the home screen. 
  3. Press Accept and continue. 
  4. Enter the home phone number. Tap Next. 
  5. Make sure your number is correct and hit OK. 
  6. The app will try to verify your phone number. 
  7. Wait until it fails. Tap the alternative option Call me. 
  8. Answer the call and enter the verification code on WhatsApp.
Unfortunately not everyone has access to a secondary cell phone or landline number.

3. Use a Virtual Phone Number

If you really can't get a phone number to call or check SMS, but you have access to an internet connection, you can use a third-party app. Some apps give you a virtual phone number, as well as the ability to call and text, some even for free!

  1. Get a free VOIP number from the app in the link above. 
  2. Download and open WhatsApp on your phone without a SIM card. 
  3. Read the privacy policy and terms of use offered by the home screen. 
  4. Press Accept and continue. 
  5. Enter the phone number obtained from the text application. Tap Next. 
  6. Make sure your number is correct and hit OK. 
  7. You will receive an SMS with a verification code in the SMS application. 
  8. Enter the code on WhatsApp, on your phone without a SIM card.
